Now you can play Minecraft at school

Minecraft is one of the most popular computer games in the world for school-aged children, and now that popularity is spreading to the classroom.

Minecraft is great. You dig. You create. You show off your creation and your friends are super-impressed. But there is a problem. You want to play it all the time but you just can't.

Why not?

Well, there are annoying distractions like sleeping, eating and going to the toilet. But the biggest problem is school. School takes up a lot of valuable Minecraft time, but no matter how hard you try, your parents just won't let you quit school to take up full-time Minecrafting.

Is there a solution? Yes, there is. It's called MinecraftEdu. It is Minecraft in school. Instead of using boring things like whiteboards and paper, some kids now learn using Minecraft. This might be the best thing ever.

But how do you get to this magical land where you get to play your favourite game at school?

There are two ways:
  1. Move to Sweden. One school there makes everybody in year 7 play Minecraft. Amazing!
  2. Get your school to use Minecraft. More than 1000 schools have already purchased MinecraftEdu, so why not yours?
Option 1 looks like fun, but option 2 is probably easier, so let's work on making that happen.

First, tell your teachers that Minecraft is a really great learning tool. Show them this video. It has a man who speaks really fast talking about how cool Minecraft is and how all teachers should use it in class.

Second, tell them about MinecraftEdu. This company sells a version of Minecraft just for schools. They also have lots of information on their website about teaching with Minecraft.

Last, show them all of the epic creations you and your friends have been making on Minecraft.

It might work.

If it does work, the next time Mum or Dad says: "Stop wasting your time playing that stupid game," you can say: "I'm not playing... I'm learning."

So what did you learn in Minecraft today?
